About Hungry Angelz

Hungry Angelz is the Cumberland County North Carolina affiliate of the "Back Pack Buddies" Program, a nationwide and federally approved program implemented to provide child friendly nutrition when other resources are not available. "Economically challenged" children in Cumberland County attending public schools are being served two meals a day Monday through Friday. After school and on weekends they often have no idea if, when or where they will receive something to eat until they get back to school Monday morning!

We (Hungry Angelz) currently have 41 schools (790 kids) in Cumberland County that we deliver to so that "economically challenged" children will have some nutritious food to sustain them over the weekend. We are a year round non-profit organization made up of volunteers who are dedicated to helping these children. Social workers in the schools who choose to sign up with Hungry angelz provide us with the number of bags they need each week.

These children range in age from Kindergarden through High School. They are living in vehicles, tents, sheds, storage places, or MAYBE a shelter-which are few in Fayetteville oriented toward families/children. Please note that at this time (November 2011) no children are living in boxes or tents that are known to Social Services personnel in Cumberland County through the school system rosters.

There were 628 "economically challenged"children in Cumberland County in the 2009-2010 school year and 877 "economically challenged" children in the 2010-2011 school year that needed help and we'd love to help as many as possible. We will be drawing for the AR-15 we have been selling raffle tickets for at halftime.  There are still a few tickets left and they will be available for purchase during the first half of the Game.
